Aaron had 2 surgeries in the last 4 days and is now in the recovery phase. The first was last Thursday to repair a largely deviated septum due to multiple nose breaks during sports. He has had this problem for quite some time, but just recently realized that it is probably affecting the quality of sleep he gets. The doctor thought it would be worthwhile to have the repair, so he decided to go for it. He has splints in his nose which he will have removed later this week.
The second surgery was done this morning. Aaron had developed a large bony spur where his triceps attaches to his elbow (from weight lifting in high school and college) that he didn't know about. Last year he hit his elbow on our banister and had a lot of pain, but figured it would go away. Since then, his elbow has been really sensitive and he has pain whenever he strains his triceps (weight training, basketball, etc.). He finally decided to go get it checked out and the doctor found that he had broken that bone spur off. His surgery today involved removing the spur, drilling holes in his remaining bone, and re-attaching the tendon. He'll be splinted for a week and then has to be really careful with using his arm for about 3 months. Hopefully in 6 months he will have full strength and range of motion back (if not, I'm not a good physical therapist!).
